Have you ever woken up one morning and suddenly decided that today was going to be a good day, just because you needed it and you wanted it to be a good one? I have, almost every day I wake up hoping that the day ahead was going to be an amazing one, but something always seems to happen and everything turns sour. In turn, your mood and relationships turn bitter too. However, I’ve learnt that that’s life! There will be good days and there will be bad ones, and it’s up to you to decide how the good and the bad will influence your life. The way you feel about yourself plays such an important role in your life!
Feeling good about yourself doesn’t have everything to do with ego, its being able to wake up every morning and to like what you see in the mirror, despite all your imperfections because as the famous saying goes, it’s the imperfections of a person that makes them perfect. So wake up, get out of bed and walk to the mirror. Look at yourself and say I love you and I love the person that you are! Do things that make you feel happy on the inside, don’t put up a false front just to fit in with the people and environment around you. Find a hobby and love and enjoy it, don’t force it upon yourself, it should be something that naturally makes you laugh on the inside. Set yourself goals, no matter what it is. Whether it’s being able to wake up early or saving up enough money to go on that holiday you’ve been waiting for. Treat yourself! Buy that delicious comfort food that you’ve been craving the whole week or go out and get that dress or new gadget that you’ve been wanting since you saw it! Make yourself feel good because you want to!
There really is so much more to life than the stresses and anxiety that fills you up! Surround yourself with people who have a positive outlook on life, don’t let others drama and negativity cloud your judgement! If you find yourself in a rut and you just feel like nothing is working out for you, that’s okay. Cry it out, don’t bottle that in! Keep a journal and write your thoughts down. Make yourself a cup of your favourite coffee or tea and find your favourite spot to be alone with your thoughts. Run a hot bubbly bath and have a glass of your best wine or guys, switch on the TV and watch your sport with no distractions. Just take the time and do whatever allows your mind to unwind! Trust me, you need it! Take all your problems and just look at how insignificant they actually are compared to the bigger picture of life! There will always be hard times or setbacks but don’t let it take control of your life. Have someone that you can confide in, someone that you trust and who will motivate you to do your best. Go outside, get some fresh air. Turn off your phone and enjoy the things around you. Play your favourite playlist and dance and sing like no one is watching. Be yourself! Don’t hide who you are for the benefit of others!
Change bad habits that bring you down, create good habits that will make you want to take on the day! Dress up, do your hair up, take as many selfies as you wish and say “wow, I look good today”, so that when you walk out of that door you feel like nothing can take you down! Don’t bother about what other people think of you and keep your head up high! Be your crazy, funny, loving self no matter who or what your enemies are, let them know that you are strong and confident and that nothing can belittle you!
It is so important to love yourself before anyone else, because at the end of the day you go to bed with your own thoughts! So stay positive, stay inspired and stay happy because I promise, there’s a whole lot more to life if you just look at the bigger picture!
